Tango 178 Class & Milonga

6:30pm - 11:30pm

After 5 years in New Cross, TANGO178 moving to the “Prince of Peckham” and SUNDAY the 7th of JULY is our opening night!

Tango178 is an Argentine tango dance night (known as a milonga) based in South London. It’s an intimate friendly dance night with a dynamic vibe where the music is strictly trad. and the dancing is elegance with energy.

We will be running a class 18.30 to 20.00 (£15 incl. milonga)
Followed by a Milonga (social dance) 20.00 to 23.30(£10)

Classes are drop in, with no need to bring a partner. They are tailored around beginners to get them dancing social tango, as well as for those who appreciate how important it is to focus on the fundamentals of their tango to improve their dance.

More experienced dancers can enjoy the Milonga after the class where we encourage a respect for how we share the dance space and all have a good time!

Our music is traditional, and focuses on the tunes that were played back in the day when tango was the ultimate URBAN dance, in the 30’s and 40’s. If you haven’t heard traditional Argentine tango, it’s AMAZING.

The magic of tango is how a very simple combination of music, contact and movement can create a deep intimacy that is lost in everyday life. It’s not just about closeness of the embrace and we do dance CLOSE…. The special nature of tango is that it is a ‘travelling’ dance. This means that dancers are in a constant flow or Ronda. This is unique to tango. What makes TANGO178 special is that it’s one of the very few dance nights in London where this can be fully appreciated and experienced. We move, as a community dancing together and moving TOGETHER. This may all sound a little strange… Come to the ‘Prince of Peckham’ on Sunday evening and experience this for yourself!
